Forklift battery is an important device in a warehouse. This device requires precautions however its proper care results in ensuring the appropriate functioning of a forklift truck. This device is now available with a facility of charging. Now the question arises what to remember when using this forklift battery charger.

1.     Use a charger when the ampere-hour rating should be within 10%To ensure a long life to a forklift battery, first of all, check the model number of the battery. This will assist you to determine the ampere rating. It is suggested in normal cases, charger a forklift battery when its ampere-hour rating has shown within 10%.

2.     Never insert a charger when your battery is too cold or hotWhen a forklift battery is too cold, don’t put a charger to it. Wait till it becomes warm. Use the same rule of thumb in case forklift battery becomes too hot, stop immediately it cools up to the room temperature.

3.     Make sure to insert right size of a chargerAlways check the size of a charger before inserting it in a forklift battery. It’s too simple to check the size of a charger i.e. a 36-volt charger is made to charge a 36-volt battery.  If you have the different chargers to pick and choose from, then simply use the red connector for 36-volt, a grey one for 36-volts and a blue one for 48 volts.

4.     Inspect the cables of a charger before connecting. Don’t insert a charger in a hurry. It will damage your battery easily. In a case, if you noticed that the charger’s cables are frayed, then it will be your duty to repair it as soon as possible.

5.     Never insert a charger immediately after filling a batteryIt will be good if you will not insert a charger when your battery is signalling water overfilling.  If you will do so, the sulphuric acid will spill down, resulting in damaging your battery.

6.     Try to pull off the charger before a battery becomes fully charged. It will be best if your forklift battery will get a full charge. It has noticed that a partial charging can decline the standard capacity of a battery.
